Devised by a composer, Claire Renard, and a video director/designer, Esa Vesmanen, Chambre du Temps is an artistic and musical stopping-off place, an installation designed with the urban traveller in mind.

The fruit of long reflection upon the modern-day city-dwellers' way of life, Chambre du Temps offers the visitor a moment within his or her frenetic working day when, for just a few seconds, time stands still.

Within this space, the visitor is invited to sample a variety of ways of listening , defined by video projections and musical sequences concealed here and there around the venue and within listening units.

Walking around the space, in rythm with the sighing breathes that whisper around him, the visitor can:
-Lie down in front of a boundless ocean, enveloped in the sound-texture of the Lits de Sons (Sound Bed);
-Sit down amongst voices and poems, by a face that appears and reappears in the darkness, while listening to the Oreillers du temps (Pillows of Time);
-Be surprised and traversed by the myriad of minuscule sounds in the Jardin d¹écoute (Listening Garden).

Organised as a musical, visual and spatial polyphony, Chambre du Temps attempts, in its own special way, to comprehend man's finiteness within the infinity of time, and to rediscover the profound feeling of being part of a complex and ever changing mystery.
